Does the transition into the fall season bring a sense of sadness? This may be especially true after the disappointing, socially distanced summer and feeling that the season was wasted. The fall season relates to the metal energy and the Lungs in Chinese medicine, which help us let go and release.
As the seasons change, think about what you can let go of. Negativity, sadness, and grief can weaken the immune system – and we need our Wei Qi (protective qi) to be at its best for the cold and flu season.
Without beginnings or endings, we would have no change, no movement. Just stagnation.

Try this recipe of roasted goodness for its lung boosting properties. All these ingredients are used in Chinese food therapy for nourishing the metal energy.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Chop up in even sized pieces:
Turnips, rutabagas, parsnips, apples, pears.
Add chopped onions and garlic.
Put everything in a baking dish or dutch oven
Mix in a small amount of olive oil to coat.
Add salt, pepper, and a little cumin and/or coriander.
Cover the dish with a lid or foil.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, until everything is soft.
