Daoist Traditions will welcome new faculty member and Dean of Faculty, Bonnie B. Benetato, this 2017 Fall Semester.
Bonnie is a family nurse practitioner with over 10 years of nursing educational experience at Trinity College in Washington, DC and at East Carolina University. Bonnie has a PhD, MSN, and BSN in nursing from the Catholic University of America, and a MBA from American University in Washington, DC. Bonnie was the deputy director at the War-Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC. It was at the WRIISC that Bonnie obtained funding to start the first WRIISC Complimentary and Alternative Medicine Clinic where inpatient and outpatient acupuncture was offered to Veterans. She was involved in developing a WRIISC acupuncture research protocol examining the effect of auricular acupuncture on PTSD related insomnia.
More recently, Bonnie has been teaching research and statistics, health care finance, health care policy, and theory in the doctor of nursing practice program at East Carolina University.
In addition to serving as Dean of Faculty, Bonnie will be teaching Healthcare Disparities, Pathology and Pharmacology 3 and Practice Management 2. Be sure to welcome her when you see her around campus this fall!
