The winter solstice is a time of quiet reflection and an opportunity to look within yourself and focus on what you want and need. It’s a time to examine, let go, and make changes within yourself. Try this simple solstice meditation to tap into your inner self and set goals and intentions for the coming year.
Find a quiet space where you will not be distracted for 5 or 10 minutes.
Sit in a comfortable position. Breathe in the fresh air deeply into your belly, up into your lungs, into your upper chest. Breathe out of the upper chest, lungs and finally the belly. Breathe like this for 5 rounds, scanning the body from the tips of the toes to the crown of your head and when you get to the top, stay there for a moment.
Focus on this spot, the crown of your head. Breathing in, imagine gold light filtering into the body from the crown. This light pours down into the spinal column and out into the rest of the body from here – to the very tips of fingers and toes, ears and nose. Imagine that this high frequency infuses your cells and enlivens your DNA. It’s honey-like consistency sticks around and fills you up.
Envision the wisest aspect of yourself emerging from within. Sit with this version of yourself. Listen deeply to what they are saying about your needs, desires, purpose. If your mind begins to wander simply come back to center and be present. Notice any feelings that may arise, and rather than push them away, pull them in. Honor them, exist fully in them.
When you feel as though you have the information you need or notice the voice lessening, give thanks for the ability to tap into this version of yourself. Make strong intentions based on your newfound knowledge. Affirm to yourself that you are capable of giving your highest self what they need. Give thanks for the support and deep knowing you received here. Sit in the space of gratitude and give thanks also to yourself, your whole self. The lightest and darkest parts of who you are, are what make you whole and uniquely you. Give thanks to all of them.
Finally, come back to center bringing the attention back to the breath. Take the breath deeper – 3 deep cleansing and refreshing breaths. Bring attention to fingers, toes and limbs, wiggling, stretching and bringing attention back to the room while remaining in-tune with this deep inner guidance.
Happy Winter Solstice
